Gaza Eid Death Toll Climbs as Israeli Fire Leaves One Dead, Several Wounded

(MENAFN) The number of Palestinians killed during the Eid al-Adha holiday in Gaza has climbed to 33, with more than 130 others reported injured in recent days, according to local health authorities.

According to reports, one Palestinian was killed and eight others were wounded by Israeli army fire over the past 24 hours. The latest casualties brought the overall toll recorded since Wednesday, the beginning of the four-day holiday, to 33 deaths.

The incidents were reported despite a ceasefire brokered by the United States that has remained in effect in Gaza since Oct. 10, 2025.

Medical officials said a Palestinian man died early Sunday from wounds sustained in an Israeli strike that hit Gaza City the previous day, adding to the casualty count.

Separately, healthcare authorities warned of a worsening humanitarian and medical situation in central Gaza. The director of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah said the facility's operating rooms have ceased functioning after electrical generators failed, a problem he attributed to the prolonged blockade and shortages affecting the territory.

Riad Hussein cautioned that the hospital faces an “imminent total shutdown of the hospital if this situation continues.” He added that several vital departments, including intensive care units, dialysis services, and neonatal care sections, could soon stop operating if the crisis remains unresolved.

Health officials have warned that the deteriorating condition of medical infrastructure is placing increasing pressure on hospitals already struggling to provide essential services amid ongoing shortages and damage to critical facilities.
