Far-right Israeli ministers don’t want to end genocide on Gaza
Following the deaths of five Israeli soldiers in a Hamas attack in northern Gaza, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately withdraw Israel’s negotiating team from the ceasefire talks taking place in Doha, Qatar. On his X social media account, Ben-Gvir declared, “There is no need to negotiate with those who kill Israeli soldiers.” He also pushed for “a total siege, a military crushing, encouraging immigration and settlements.”
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also used X to demand that Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir “immediately halt” all aid deliveries into Gaza.
The Israeli military confirmed that five soldiers were killed and fourteen wounded during clashes in northern Gaza on Monday. Since October 2023, the ongoing Israeli genocide has resulted in nearly 57,600 Palestinian deaths, primarily women and children. The persistent bombardment has devastated Gaza, leaving the area largely uninhabitable and causing severe shortages of food and outbreaks of disease.
